About

Based in Edinburgh, Guy is a jewellery designer/maker who creates bold, playful pieces - primarily in spray painted acrylic and silver. With an expressive use of colour and scale, his jewellery is designed to make the wearer stand out while remaining wearable and effortless.

With a love of all things botanical, (especially tropical orchids), Guy’s work fuses the shapes, colours, and flamboyance of nature with pop culture references and inspiration from his city surroundings. His interest in plants started early in childhood - fascinated by the forms that nature could create. The graffiti and murals that can be found throughout Edinburgh have also influenced Guy’s work significantly. Living near Edinburgh's canal meant seeing its everchanging, colourful walls most days. The overblown, abstract styles in every colour imaginable resonated strongly with his own work and lead him to experimenting in spray paints. Using a process of abstraction, Guy distorts, blends, and simplifies this source material to create pieces which are oddly organic yet futuristic.

Studying at Edinburgh College of Art from 2019-22 encouraged a diverse use of materials and techniques which is reflected in his work today. He uses precious and non-precious materials. As well as slow, handmade techniques alongside contemporary ones. His newest collection employs small batch laser-cutting to create increasingly complex and repeating shapes in acrylic. These are spray-painted and finished by hand; the unpredictability of spraying means each piece is slightly unique. Guy continues to work in precious materials too - all silver and gold pieces are completely handmade in his Edinburgh studio.

Guy's studio is located in the Precious Metal Workshop, at Out Of The Blue Drill Hall - just of Leith Walk. To arrange a meeting in person at his studio, remotely, or by phone please don't hesitate to get in touch!
